This week, pastor Don continues in the book of Judges by looking for a second week at the life of Gideon. Many have taken the life of Gideon and used his methods (ie. the laying out of a fleece) as a model for how Christians are supposed to obtain guidance from the Lord. Yet, as we look at Gideon's life, one of the clear lessons we learn, is that this is actually NOT how to ascertain God's guidance or will for us as believers. Scripture has clear principles for us to follow, principles of righteousness, purity, holiness, and a heart that seeks to obey the clear teachings and commands God has for us. For many, the failure to obey the plain things in God's Word, is a greater indicator that we will not be able to see what God's will is for us, than our inability to see some mysterious, hidden plan we think God wants to show us, but up to now, has hidden from us.
