This week, pastor Don focuses on the message that Paul is passing on to Timothy to proclaim, or 'herald' as the word actually is. A herald does not go and announce his own message, but rather, the message he has been given. Despite opposition and the forces that are at work to prevent the word of the Gospel of Jesus Christ going forth, it is imperative that it continues to do so. Even though others may abandon the truth and go where they may hear a message that is more palatable, Timothy must not fall into this trap. Ultimately, Paul was looking forward to his reward, which wasn't a material one, but rather the righteousness of Christ. His goal was, as ours should be, to be more like Christ. This is what the world needs to see, men and women, boys and girls, who are sold out for Jesus, living only for His glory.
